REDEEMING THE DAY
I can't say
That I redeem
Each day with
Thoughts and writings
Worthy of the name.
I merely catch
A few in my sieve
To save till
The last light
Sinks in the
West, and I
Stand on the shore
Wondering that I've been,
And that there is no more.

DEPRESSION
Coming along as we did,
In the depression, we
Learned to fear
The dark sides
Of our economy.
We started to work
Early and have continued
To the present day.
I am approaching
My thirty-fourth year
In aerospace
Which is half way
Between Williams
Commitment and Pound's
Disdain of everything.
I have practised
Alchemy and tried year
After year to turn
The lead to gold, and now
That I am old shall soon
See whether I succeeded.

APOLOGY
I might apologize
For an overt act
And all the while
Conceal the real
Reason for speaking
Even from myself.
'Tis true my words
Offended and yet
I meant not that
Interpretation,
Not what you thought
You heard; and yet
I should have seen
That possible
Interpretation
Which implies
A lack of
Perception or
Sensitivity.
Which is the greater?
I'll apologize for that.
