In this chapter we will discuss Van Ruler's idea of the kingdom of God and its importance for our understanding of history. This will involve a discussion of his thought `from out of the end', that is, that the kingdom creates history and history moves toward the kingdom and provides the totality of ingredients that make up this kingdom.
Once we have seen the importance of the kingdom we will move on to a discussion of the question regarding the relationship of Jesus Christ with this kingdom in the original and final intentions of God.
