The aim of this study has been accomplished. We have discussed Van Ruler's doctrine of the messianic intermezzo and we have seen the importance of the Old Testament within the context of this doctrine. However, it remains for us to conclude this study with a brief summary of Van Ruler's thought and the importance of this thought for modern day theological endeavor. We will do this by considering the three main foundations of this theology, namely the Trinity, predestination and the kingdom, and some of the criticisms that have been levelled against these foundation ideas.
